ONWARD PAPER MILL PLC CLINCHES CSR AWARD IN PAPER SECTOR
LAGOS 15th -7- 2011 - Onward Paper Mill Plc has been awarded the “Best Paper Mill Company in CSR for educational development”. The CSR Nigeria Award is the nations highest in terms of recognition and accorded organisations who have exemplified themselves, not only in core functions, but also giving back to society enormously as corporate social responsibility.
This award comes at a time when ONWARD has initiated partnerships with reputable educational outfits aimed at kick-starting educational programmes which are geared towards psychologically and positively changing the outlook of youths on education. The choice for Education as the core aspect of her social responsibility is steeped in the company's belief that Education is the key to our future, both as individuals and as a nation
Speaking during the event, Head of Media and Corporate Communications, Olatunji Babafemi, CSR Nigeria Awards, said The CSR Awards was launched by CTRU to recognize companies who have made a difference to the community through their CSR programmes. Hence the body honours them for their outstanding, innovative and world-class products, services, projects and programs in different categories. According to him, Organisations being honoured at the event, have demonstrated leadership, sincerity and on-going commitment in incorporating ethical values, compliance with legal requirements, respect for individuals, involvement in communities and protection of the environment where they carry out their businesses. He also added that the long-term growth and profitability of companies are inextricably linked to the sustainability and well-being of the community.
In receiving the award on behalf of Onward, Segun Ajasa; Head Corporate Communications, expressed his utmost thanks on behalf of the Company and further re-iterated Onward’s belief in contributing to development via her CSR activities.
